After painting traditional subject matter in both oil and watercolor for twenty years, I was looking for a new challenge involving a more intuitive process. I began using oil and cold wax in 2019, and found this medium had exactly what I was looking for. With mark making, colors, textures and shapes, I allow the painting to develop with no preconceived idea of the end result. It is a process of experimentation and discovery with an element of surprise. I am able to suggest a story with a bit of mystery left to the viewer’s interpretation.
